SHEER KHURMA RECIPE (شیر خورمہ)
Sheer Khurma is Persian language word, Sheer means Milk and Khurma means Dates. This is combination of Milk, dates and other nuts. The Eid day starts with this dessert.
Eid Ul Fitr is on next step, Eid is not completed without Sheer Khurma. Sheer Khurma is classic and traditional dish of Eid. Sheer Khurma is Vermicelli milk pudding consist of nuts. Dates in this dish make very good feeling.
This dish made on Eid festivals in Pakistan and India. It seems Eid is not complete until you eat Sheer Khurma.
- Ghee or Oil (3 tbspnگھی یا کھانی کا تیل
- Cloves (4 whole) لونگ
- Almonds Crushed (10-15) بادام کٹے
- Cashew Nuts Crushed (10-15) کٹےکاجو
- Raisins (10-15) کشمش
- Pistachios Crushed (10-15) پستہ کٹا
- Fine Vermicelli (150gram) سویاں اعلی قسم کی
- Whole Milk (1 litre) خالص دودھ
- Chopped Dates (5-6) کھجور کٹی
- Sugar (¼ cup) چینی
- Saffron soaked IN Milk (15-20) زعفران
- Cardamom Powder (½ teaspoon) دارچینی پاؤڈر
HOW TO MAKE RECIPE
Add 3 tablespoon of Ghee or Oil the pan and turn the flame on.
In hot ghee add 4 whole cloves, 10-15 crushed Almonds, 10-15 crushed cashew nuts, 10-15 whole raisins, 10-15 crushed pistachio. Fry all these for 2-3 minutes until light brown. Dish out all the roasted nuts.
Add 150 grams of fine vermicelli in the pan. Add 1 litre of milk in the pan.
Now add 5-6 chopped dates and nuts in the milk with vermicelli and cook until boil on high flame.
Add 1/4 cup of sugar, saffron soaked in milk and cardamom powder in the whole mixture and cook for 10 minutes.
Your Sheer Khurma is now ready to serve. Garnish with some more crushed nuts if you want.
